North Northumberland Food Bank
As a church we support the North Northumberland Food bank, which is housed at the William Elder Building in the town and is co-ordinated locally by the Berwick Community Trust.
The Food Bank is available to any household and provides food parcels to those in desperate need, on a referral basis.
More information regarding the Food Bank and how to be referred can be found via the Berwick Community Trust’s website.
At Berwick Baptist Church we have a collection box where you can donate to the Food Bank. There are also various collection points around the town eg the William Elder Building, Asda in Tweedmouth, Berwick Sure Start, other churches in the town and the Newcastle Building Society on Hide Hill.
Items that can be donated include:
- Non-perishable food items: ie tinned and packet foods eg tinned potatoes, other tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, tinned meats, tinned rice puddings, pasta, rice, long-life milk, biscuits etc.
- Adult and children’s toiletries
- Cleaning Products/Washing powder etc.
- Cat and dog food
Supporting the Food Bank is a way that we can show God’s love to our local community so please put any items you wish to donate into the box at the back of the church and these will be taken to the William Elder Building when the box is full – thank you.
