Christmas Presence is approaching fast!

Just a few last minute bits and pieces:

1) I will be collecting the keys for the shop at 1pm tomorrow (Friday), so I will be in the shop from 1.30pm - approx 3.30pm to start cleaning.  If anyone would like to join me, that would be great! Bring your mop!!!

2) I will be at the shop from 10am on Saturday (prob until approx 2pm or whenever we get finished) to set up.  If you are free, please come along and bring any donations / Christmas decorations / resources etc.  If anyone has blu-tack, please bring it - we need lots if we are to wallpaper with gift wrap again!!!

Just a reminder that we have our last formal meeting on Thursday at 3pm at the Salvation Army.  Those of you who are willing to be named on the rota of helpers, please will you have a think in advance of that meeting about which days you may or may not be available and I will get the rota sorted as soon as possible.  We need at least 4 people per day during the week, and probably 6 people each Saturday.  If you can only do an hour or so - that is fine, just let me know what times.  If you are unable to be at the meeting but are able to be on the rota, if you can email me your availability as soon as possible, then that will be great.  Of course you are all welcome to come and help on as many days as you are free - even if you aren’t an official helper for that day.

I now have the licence agreement for the property - I’m just getting it checked out by the Methodist Legal team and then we can get it signed and we are all set to go.

I had word from the estate agent and we have permission to use the same shop again this year!!!

So Christmas Presence will take place in the old Clarks shop again and once more we are only being charged £1 for rent, plus the business insurance (which last year was around £85), rates (which last year we got free) and any electricity we use.

So thanks for all your prayers and please keep praying about what we will do inside the shop.

25.09.2018 From Rev Gill Welsh:

Providing we manage to get a premises for this year, we agreed to run Christmas Presence from Mon 3rd December - Sat 22nd December.

(Hopefully getting access to the property on 1st Dec to give us the weekend to set up, and having access until the 30th Dec in order to clear up afterwards)

Opening hours will be Mon - Fri: 10am - 2pm

Sat 10am - 4pm (providing there are enough people volunteering to help on Saturdays)

Sundays we will not open, although we may have a type of Carol Service on one of the Sunday afternoons!

Possible Activities will include:

Prayer tree / remembrance tree, Free Present wrapping service, Kids corner, comfy seating and teas and coffees, Memories of Christmas past, puppets telling the Christmas Story, Messy Church, Santa and face painting.  Any other ideas welcome!

If you were not able to be at the meeting but wish to help out, if you could let me know what you would like to be involved with and any days / dates that you know you will not be available, then that will be great.  Don’t worry if you are not that organised yet, I can get that information at our meeting in November.
