Berwick Baptist Church

...on a journey of renewal

Christmas Presence

For the month of December, we will be opening a shop on Marygate (the site of the old Clarks shop) called Christmas Presence. This is an ecumenical project aimed at reaching out to the people of Berwick with the true message of Christmas, and offering a quiet space and practical help during what can be a difficult time for many.  We will be providing: a free present wrapping service, a table of activities entitled “Cutting the cost of Christmas”, a remembrance/prayer tree, story time, sofas to relax on, a listening ear and many other activities.  Nothing is being sold and everything will be offered on a donation-only basis as we want to share God’s generous and unconditional love at this special time of the year.

The shop will be open from Mon 4th December - Sat 23rd December (not Sundays), 10am - 2pm so please do pop in.  We still need lots of help in running the project so if you are interested in helping out in any way, please email gill.welsh@outlook.com or call 01289 306291.  Let's help to make this a really special Christmas for the people of Berwick, with God’s love in the centre.

Many thanks, Rev Gill Welsh (on behalf of the Christmas Presence Team)

From Gill Welsh...Latest News

Day 1...“First day went well. Not a huge amount of people came in but around 20 and one in particular found the prayer tree very helpful. Wendy wrapped a few presents and at least one person used the present exchange. Also, a little boy’s mum was very appreciative of the use of the toilet!”

One week to go...So all is going ahead to set up next weekend (1-3 December).  I will let you know what time I will get the keys on Friday 1st and if anyone is available on the Friday, Saturday or after 3pm on the Sunday, then please just turn up to help.  You can also leave any donations of materials, decorations etc at any point during the weekend.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support.  God is good and the more prayers that are answered in such amazing ways, the more encouraged I am that this is God’s will and that the project will have an important impact either on Berwick as a whole, or certainly on the individuals he wants us to be there for this Christmas.
